It is known by several names:
- Wat Uposoth Ratanaram, because the king came there every holy day for his Buddhist observances,
Wat Preah Kev Morakat, named after the Emerald Buddha (in fact, a sea-green jade Buddha on a gold base),
- Silver Pagoda, because of its parquet floor formed of chiseled silver strips. This pagoda has 5,329 solid silver plaques, at a rate of 1.125 kg per plaque.

In front of the altar, the magnificent "Golden Buddha" in the display case weighs 75 kg and its parasol, also made of solid gold, weighs about 20 kg. It is beautifully chiseled and is encrusted with 2,086 diamonds and other precious stones.
